Re: S'Algar Hotel Bought

I was initially disappointed when I heard that the S'Algar hotel complex was to be sold. There is always the fear that asset-stripping would follow, poor investment policies instituted, eventually resulting in the land being sold off for other more profitable enterprises. I am not too pessimistic he...

Re: Sushi - Es Castell

I hope they succeed. That was a good review which should help them. Once you get to know the typical portions an eaterie supplies, you can trim your order accordingly. I think e20 per head is doable and sounds like great value. If I get a fair wind and things go well, I'll be over there within a few...

Re: Electricity charges

This post has been dormant for a year. May I reopen it? I saw that utility charges jumped in 2018, and many people began to look for alternatives to electrical heating. Lighting IMO is not a problem with low voltage LED lamps being quite cheap, especially if you have solar panels. But heating villas...

Re: Moving to menorca from the UK

Good luck with your plans! Am wanting to do the move there as well, although to retire there. I am not an expert on Menorca or Spain in general (apart from as a tourist), but my impression of all things European is that you probably would encounter bureaucratic hurdles unless you have the necessary ...

Re: Some gripes about navigating the forum

Many thanks - it's probably because originally when I used the drop-down Quick Links menu things were quiet on the forum and I was disappointed, so I stopped using it. I had been hoping to see a healthy list of new subjects and ripostes, but usually only got one or two. Maybe if New Posts could be u...

Some gripes about navigating the forum

Hi all, I have been on this site since May of 2017 - I know my profile says 2019 but there was a glitch last year - and have learned a ton of useful stuff about Menorca, life and everything on it. However, I have to admit that the way to navigate around the forum is looking increasingly clunky and d...

Re: Schools in Minorca

Sorry to hear about your friends. I am still trying to get to Menorca to retire there, and I have one 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. My daughter may no longer be required to attend school by the time I settle in. My son is not keen on going, but that's mainly because he is glued to a co...
