Re: Awful weather forecast for next week - boohoo

I've just looked at the 10 day forecast as I arrive on Friday, and all apart from 1 day it predicts sunshine and around 80 degrees. I remember donkey's years ago, I had been in Tenerife for a week and some girls came and stayed in the apartment next door who I made friends with. They said they'd bee...

Re: Arenal, What can it offer

I agree - it's not like Cala'n Bosch at all (not a big fan of Cala'n Bosch personally). The main focus in Arenal is the beach. The resort is not so entertainment based, although the 2 big hotels have evening shows and some of the smaller hotels / apartments have kids disco's etc.

Re: Playa Azul 2011

Sounds good, though you make me laugh with "people looking for pie and chips"!!!

Why do people go abroad if they only want English food?

Re: Restaurante Alcalde

22nd July!

8th year running to Menorca (although we met an old couple in the airport lift last year, who told us they had been every year since 1960 and used to have to fly in on an old WW2 Dakota), so 8 years isn't very much compared to that) - but give me time!

Re: Restaurante Alcalde

 Blimey, I wouldn't have been happy with that! When we used to stay in Arenal, we'd eat there every night. Now we go once a week and usually have the mixed paella. Hope it's up to scratch when we go in 4 weeks. There are so many really good restaurants around the Island it's hard trying to fi...

Re: Restaurante Alcalde

Mmmm - we usually drive up to Sa Gavina to see Fernando a couple of times during the holiday, so might try this too.

Re: Jellyfish 2011

Usually if they are up on the North coast there are none on the South coast and vice-versa. In my experience they don't tend to turn up in large numbers until the end of July, but I suppose every year is different. I've never seen any at Son Bou, there are usually loads at Arenal and last year the l...

Re: Restaurante Alcalde

Is it worth a drive up from the South Coast? I've never eaten here before.

Do they do traditional food? Is there a website or menu link I can look at please?

Re: Sa Mirada Apartments

Sa Gavina does a whole lot more than steak, their mixed Paella is to die for!

Sa Mirada are in a lovely position - peace and quiet if you want it, but just a short walk to more "lively" places if you want a bit of action.
