Bars and restaurants
Thinking about a change from South coast resorts to Cala Blanca for next year. How does CB compare to Say Son Bou or Binibeca in terms of number and quality of places to eat and drink?

Re: May 2018 in Son Bou
Seems the new arrival in the old ‘capo’ venue in the shopping centre is a branch of Es Bruc restaurant of Santo Tomas Binigaus Beach fame. Expect it will be decent and a good addition to the SB restaurant choice. Somewhere new opening, bucking the recent trend of closures and empty units - great to ...

May 2018 in Son Bou
Arrived home yesterday after spending a very pleasant last week of May in Son Bou. Arrived late last Friday evening to find the resort very quiet, compared to what we have seen visiting high season in previous years. Only a handful in Arthur’s at 930pm. Similar story elsewhere. Apparently it was bus...

Re: Restaurants in Santo Tomas
First time we went to ST we were self catering in Mestral for a fortnight. Having done some research before we left I felt the small choice of bars should not cause a problem as Son Bou was only ‘a short walk’ over the headland.... Deciding an exploratory solo trip would be sensible before suggestin...

Re: Restaurants in Santo Tomas
We didn’t visit ST in 2017 but were there in each of the previous three years. Most bars/restaurants are part of hotels or apartment complexes but we did manage a fortnight of drinking and eating out a few years back albeit with a fair few repeat visits! On the beachfront we have Es Pins and Es Bruc...

Re: Josephs place
Just out of curiosity Sue... which Son Bou bars and restaurants have opened up at this time of year? Is it too early for our faves compostela and kit kat at the top, Arthur’s and Las Dunas along the bottom? Hard to imagine the resort quiet when we compare it to our peak season visits!

Re: History of tourism in Menorca
Thanks Keefyd. From what you have described ST in the 80s was just the hotels on the south side of the road? Was the block of shops where Halleys Bar is now built and open then?
The CG pics are great to see. Hard to imagine just the two hotels and a few apartments. What year was the top pic?

History of tourism in Menorca
Interested in any information or memories users of the forum can provide on the development of tourism in the menorca resorts.... We have been coming to the island regularly but only for the last 5 years or so and trying to imagine what it must have been like to come in the 70s, 80s, 90s When did th...

Re: Copacabana Fire
Any signs of the site being tidied up or brought back into use? We were last in Son Bou Aug 16 and it was quite an eyesore. Hoping to be back this Summer and wondered if there would be much change?

Re: Easter opening
Could anybody give a pointer on accommodation providers for an out of season visit please. All the mainstream villa providers seem to have nothing until Summer flights start up in May - guessing I would need to go to a smaller or local villa rental company ?
