Travellers cheques in Euros or £

Post by FEEBIES » July 9th, 2010, 9:33 am

Hi everyone , I am just wondering am I better to get my travellers cheques in Euros or Sterling?
Anybody got any Idea what is the best way . I will be taking some Euros in cash but like the secruity of travellers cheques. Not long now till we are there can't wait . Been coming to the same resort for the last 12 years . Love it

I have bought euros using Fairfx pre-paid card and got 1.20 to a £, net, 2 weeks ago. I need to top it up but I am waiting for the rates to improve.
If I was using travellers cheques I would use them all and take Euros.
Where are you staying ? We are off in 2 weeks for a mega chill.

The hotel next door ! and this will also be our 12th year. We even had the same room last year. Very sad.
We often come to the Sol for a beer and a chat with the excellent bar man called Modi. ( better known as MR Disco Dolly)
Our eldest daughter and her husband go on Saturday for a week and we arrive during the week after. I suppose we are addicted to Santo Tomas and Menorca in general.
Have a great holiday and I hope the weather is kind to us.

We arrive on the 27th July until the 12th August. We spend the first week visiting the beaches and towns, returning to ST at around 4.00 for 2 hours plus on the beach. The second week is usually ST beach/walks only. Hopefully meet up with you then. Have sent you a PM.

Hiya , I have posted you a PM. Take no notice of the question about when you arrive as I have it on here . You arrive as we approach our second week . I will be so jealous when I have to come home and you have a week left.
Speak to you soon .
What is your wife's name ?

Hi Peter , did you enjoy your holiday ??? It was great to put a face to the person I had been chatting to . The ladies didn't look as though they wanted any extra company , hence we didn't stop for a drink .That evening when I saw you and we were going to get some water the shop had just shut as we got there, never mind!
We really enjoyed our holiday in every aspect . We had a great rest and I even read 3 books while I was there , totally un heard of .I am now missing Menorca and trying to plan another visit soon .
Take care it was lovely to meet you .

Had a wonderful holiday Fiona, probably best ever - and we have been going since 2000. The secret is that after a couple of days we seemed to have been there for months. The weather was easily the worst ever but did not spoil anything.
Yes, it was great to meet Peter and your goodself. Mode told me your name was Fiona. Emma's influence is everywhere in S T.
I was actually informed about the shutters and the expensive water. I will give you the 2 euros next year. Sorry. I was severly repremanded for mugging you.
I am hoping to go to Port Mahon for a few days in the first week of October. £66 return from Manchester with Monarch - 10kgs of hand luggage only should last 4 days. Gillian is at work!
Speak to you soon - see you next year.

Hi Peter , I was only joking about the water . Sorry to hear the weather wasn't too good , it must have changed after we left cause we had great weather . I was hoping to go back in October but think Peter wants to try somewhere else , were as I could go right now and live there no probs . Good for you going away for a few days , might join you !!! you got a good deal there. You could always nip over on the ferry to Majorca while your there . How long are you going for?
Anyway hope you are both well . Talk to you soon
Regards Fiona
