Also out of curiosity as I will be over for the world cup, will the locals be excited for it and be cheering Spain or are there political issues which puts people off?

You won't have a problem. I was in a Spanish bar for the 2010 final ..... it was a great night ... but was accosted by a couple of local .... they gave me hugges and kisses and wanted to dance

My favourite lighthouse is Favaritx, you can drive up-to that one too, black slate, almost lunar landscape and on a rough day, the sea breaking over the rocks is a sight to behold. Lots of fossils up there too if you are a geek who likes that sort of thing (like me ).

You can also park up there and walk to a couple of Virgin beaches, Presili and Tortuga.

Yes Faveritx is good but mostly for the sunrise.
