GOB are the fun police. They are now worried about the damage that is being caused to the algae with the construction of the walkway

The GOB claims that the gateway that the Balearic Port Authority is building in Es Castell, specifically at the foot of the cliff that connects Cala Corb and Moll d'en Pons, destroys the ecosystem of this space. He explains that the project has been changed on the fly, going from a wooden structure blown to a work dock, which has caused a significant impact on the environment in which it is acting. For this reason, the environmental entity has requested to consult the corresponding file.
The GOB recalls that the project was announced with a walkway under which the marine environment was intact, such as the one in Calasfonts. However, he says, it has finally been decided to pour materials along the cliff to enable a pier on which people will circulate. "With this change, the entire underwater cliff, the flora and fauna that inhabit it are affected," he says in a statement.

By way of context, the GOB explains that the port of Maó is the largest part of the sea protected from the Island, so that port activities coexist with a very important area for the growth of fish and entry of different species of fauna.

Some really good photos of the new cala corb walkway , by Mark targa.
As I read about the opposition by GOB about the loss of algae and so forth its a bit late in the day now when it's nearly finished !! 🤔.
I would have thought on the outset of planning surely they would have their chance then to have their say and any changes of structure would have to be reassessed.

All I can see is good in the making of the walk way, strengthening the base of the rocks also I guess a revenue from moorings and tourists walking round to parts they didn't know were there!! 😁
