Calas Fonts Recommended new restaurant

Post by seanyd6bg » September 9th, 2007, 7:47 pm

Having just got back from a week...I'd recommend the English run Port Antico Restaurant (nr Dinkums) at Calas Fonts, which is a cut above the rest there, the chef apparently used to work at the nearby acclaimed Scandals and the hostess is very friendly, the menu is very creative and the quality of the food is exceptional, most of the food around the calas fonts is fairly bland....this is the exception, they have only been open 5 weeks but hopefully they will prove to be a success, if you go, can you tell the hostess that Simply Red's first single was Money's too tight to mention and holding back the years was a later single, she'll know who recommended her restaurant then!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my brothers restaurant (Antony, hostess is Laura), glad that you liked it seanyd6bg, its very warming to know that people really like his food.

I am going to visit at the end of this week. I havent been over to menorca for a year and i havent seen his new restaurant. I cant wait, i just hope the weather is sunny and a bit warm! otherwise the girlfriend will moan haha!

Hopefully will be getting a website up for the restaurant in the next couple of months and spread the word a bit more.

Regards

Sean

We have been to this restaurant too and totally agree with the comments posted, it's nice to see something different food wise. We've also mentioned El Puchero on Carrera Gran before and again has a very good menu and well worth a visit or two for something different to the norm.

As for spreading the word, even though I'm a little biased  you won't find a faster way that having a mention on this site

What kind of food do they serve? I'm looking for new places to try out this year with the family.

The type you eat  From what I remember they don't have a fixed menu as such, it's kind of what's the best available from their suppliers. But they are very different to the majority of restaurants you'll find.

At El Puchero on Carrera Gran you have to give a couple of days notice for some of their specials, Port Antico have the menu on a chalk board.

Well, for little Zach it is more the kind he can smear all over the tray and himself.

Thanks for the recommendations though. I never get to eat out all that much when I'm there with the students since all my meals are already paid for at Apartamentos, but am really looking forward to getting out and dining with the family.
