Huh, well I phoned up Sky and the chap on the other end did a speed test and said, 'yeah you're only getting .2 speed which isn't good'  He said I could upgrade to fibre for £20 a month with a £50 off payment

At the moment i'm waiting for No.2 son to get back from his month long holiday as it's all in his name :???: :???:
I'll stop moaning, when you give me a pay rise this :arms: big

I think they do it on purpose - I have the same problem with TT - but I'm not paying extra for something that's not required!!!

Next step is to phone someone like Plusnet, act like you're going to move to them and ask WHAT SPEED YOU CAN REALISTICALLY EXPECT TO GET. And let me know what they say. Meanwhile go to http://www.speedtest.net and give me the figures they give you.

Yes Steve, I am with TalkTalk - but at least my speeds are double Susie's, which is enough for me - I'm not paying extra for Optic when I don't need it. The TT package we have is ideal as we get free phone calls (Landline and Mobile in UK and International, 24 /7) + broadband for £12 per month ( plus the BT thing)

Susie there's not a lot anyone can do to speed up your over copper wire broadband in your area unless you can get Open Reach to renew your wires to your local exchange, the average for your street is very low.

See viewtopic.php?f=48&t=31769 It looks like you'll have to bite the bullet and dip into your purse for Fibre to the Cabinet.
