Bamalams

Post by sanmiguel » June 2nd, 2019, 4:07 pm

Really nice restaurant - just back from a great Sunday lunch - mains are about €15.50 inc half a bottle of very drinkable wine. Portions are huge and service good. Thought it might be rock music, but very low key background stuff. Hope it does well.

CnP seemed pretty quiet for half term - lot of places closing pm. Speedway Jam were back in the Irish Pub last Friday. Sa Paissa is starting with the Temptions Tribute tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about Buster from Village Pub passing on.

I only let him think he's in charge.

I think the Island is very quiet this year not seen a lot of visitors and Port Mahon dead but hopefully it will improve now that it’s June the weather has not been great the past two weeks either especially for half term😎

I think despite what Tourist Board says feels like lot less people on the island - Mahon is noticeablly less people at time when you would expect a lot more. Tried Balams too - had 25 Set menu evening. Plus point for CnP but will be hard for them - just not enough people around

Regards the amount of tourists on the Island. We were there for 2 weeks early July, and have visited at the same time other years. We also thought the island was quieter especially Mahon, seemed very relaxed in the town and port area. Also, driving round the island there seemed to be less tourist traffic about. Although Cala Fonts in Es Castell seemed to be more busy than usual if that's possible?!! Also, there seems to be an absence of our German European friends as well.

In CNP last week and it was heaving, all the bars and restaurants were busy. Went into Mahon on Saturday and that busy too, no where to park and the town was bustling.
Ventured out to Cala Galdana on Monday and drove round for an hour trying to find somewhere to park, but left after not finding a single parking space anywhere in the resort.
Even the car park in Punta Prima was full and had to park on the road opposite.
So all in all the island seemed busy with tourists.
Lover of everything Menorcan. :jozza:

Not so busy for everyone! Bamalams have closed their doors permanently. Short lived!

I think it's fair to say they didn't make many friends whilst open!
