FIFTY

Post by ladyrose » June 17th, 2015, 8:32 pm

One of my dogs are in trouble
It's Fifty
She is the 11 year old English Springer Spaniel that came with us from Ireland.
The same girl that eat most of my chickens
Then she got her leg chopped off with a strimmer in a freak accident with my husband.
Then she got a growth on her her neck that just got bigger and bigger it is now the size of hump.
The latest thing to happen to her is now.
A few days ago while friends were here she had a problem with her eye.
Then she started to get very lathargic.
And yesterday my husband took her to the vet.I thought she was going to be put to sleep and I could not go with her to the vet. It would break my heart.
The vet said that a grass seed had gone up into her soft pallette and it was now pressing against the eye socket.
She was given a massive dose of antibiotics and anti inflammatory.
This morning she seemed worse so I had to go out and I got Himself to call the vet.
She says we just have to wait until tomorrow.
The whole day my husband has been syringing chicken stock and water into the dog.
I must say I am really proud of him
So here we go for another night not knowing what the morning will bring
So fingers crossed.

Thanks Alan her eye looks really bad but,it was her temp that I was really worried about.
She is just laying there.

In saying that she seems a bit brighter this morning heading to the vets at 12 so hopefully the abscess in her head will have burst.

I was at the vet with our Bini earlier, she's our Staffie. She was a bit ruff, sorry rough yesterday but bounced back a treat to the point I think the vet thought we'd imagined it.

I really hope your Fifty bounces back just as quick if not quicker.

Hi there sorry I haven't come back before now but I have been so busy.
On Friday we took her back to the vet.
The swelling on the inside of her mouth had gone down and the vet then managed to pull a HUGE!!
grass seed out of the roof of her mouth.
It had cause a huge abscess which was pushing on the soft palette of her mouth, she could not open her mouth and it caused her eyes to blow up hugely.
Because of this she was running a really high temp which was making her listless.
She is now a great deal better,on antibiotics and anti inflammatory pills for a week and everyday she is acting more like herself.
Her eyes are still a bit iffy but the vet says as soon as the abscess has drained it will allow the poor old girl get back to normal

Thanks everyone for your really kind thoughts :goodman: :goodman:

Her on a better day
