Picking up family at airport

Post by tonyy » June 11th, 2017, 4:37 pm

Hi everyone

First pot on here.

We are arriving on 24th June for a fortnight but my son is joining us for our second week of our holiday so I was thinking about picking him up at Mahon airport in the hire car. How easy is this, do they have a pick up area or is it just a case of using the car park (if so how much is that)?

Hi and welcome to MenorcaTalk. You'll have to park in the car park but its not expensive, I believe its only 14.00€ for 24 hours, I've picked up lots of times and only paid a Euro or so each time.

Last year I picked some friends up, I chanced my luck and left the car parked right outside departures (upstairs) for 10 mins. I ran down to the arrivals hall and by picking my moment even managed to sneak through and helped them get their cases off the carousel as they have small kids.

Of course, if you have mobile availability and don't mind a minimal delay, you can park off airport until your son calls to say he is waiting outside arrivals - and then drive to pick him up.

When I left on Friday they are in the process of putting up all sorts of new barriers and parking systems at the drop off point, so not sure how that is all going to work. As far as pick ups are concerned that all looks the same, just park in the main car park and walk across the road to the terminal. Cost is minimal.

Thanks for the advice everyone, do you pay at a machine to get an exit ticket or at the barrier whilst in the car?

cheers

One last question, does it get busy on the road into the airport on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m.?

As you come out of the terminal on the ground floor, cross the road and the machines are just at the car park entrance.

It's Menorca, there are usually no traffic queues especially at 10.00 on a Saturday.
