Bar Pons.

Postby a1424 » January 27th, 2010, 5:46 pm

when we go back to cala n poter in late june,i would like to try some more of the restaurants in the resort.last year we tried a few of the ones that have been put foward by some of the members on the forum.

most of them were very good, the castle and big als where about the best in our view.two very different restaurants, but good all the same.the worst meal we had was in bar lorengo,my wife had very bad night after eating there!!.we never tried pitos as it was always very busy by the time we got there.

anyway back to my post.i used to walk pass bar pons a lot,and it looked nice food.but i dont really see many posts on the forum about reviews.
could anybody confirm what the food is like in the restaurant.

thanks

Although we've been in quite a few times we've never eaten so can't comment. I will say that it usually quite busy with Spanish so that might indicate something.

We've eaten in Bar Pons. We tend to go there at least one during our visits. The paella is fab and there is plenty of it. We have also been for the Sunday Lunch which was delicious and good value. I think we've generally paid a little more than in other places, but its always been worth it.
Hope this helps!

Bar Pons has been one of our favourities for the last twenty ood years and it's really under-rated. Family run, and very consistent - we've never had a bad meal there. Does get a bit busy with the locals on Saturday night and Sundays.

The snacks are good value but we aslo regularly have the roast lamb, sole with prawns and peppered steak. The curry special on a Tuesday and the fish and chips on Thursday are also worth a try (Beverley's parents had a fish and chip shop). Breakfasts are good. And the Irish coffee....

It tends to get overlooked by many people visiting CnP, as they don't see it's there until they come to drive out. It's well worth a visit though, and handily is open year around.

I remember eating at Bar Pons once and there was a huge thunderstorm whilst we were eating. The lightening was spectacular........think the food was OK too

We had that once - then the power went off. Dinner by candle light on all the tables. Took them ages to sort the bill out using pen and paper. They've got a generator now - sort of takes away the sense of adventure though.

We have used Bar Pons at least twice per visit. Excellent menu and service, our youngest son is a bit picky and he always eats a whole plate full. The staff are friendly and very helpful as well. I will look forward to going back this summer, we may try the Curry on Tuesday!

Pitos is great for take-aways. You can normally split the meals between two people if you're not very hungry.
